Depending on your financial situation, you can essentially decide this for yourself. Speak to your real estate agent to see what reasonable options are available in the area that you prefer. You can then narrow them down and estimate whether or not you can afford the home of your dreams. Renting shouldn’t be looked down upon as you’ll still be residing within a home and you’ll be able to work on putting yourself in a better financial situation.

Can You Renovate or Add on to this Home?

Ask your real estate agent whether or not you can alter the property as some areas may be located on a historic or preserved property. Your real estate agent should know what is and isn’t allowed on the grounds that you are buying on.
